Connor's 8th Birthday

Every year I find myself saying "I can't believe Connor is going to be X years old" - but this year it just truly seemed unreal. 8 years old sounds so old, doesn't it? Ok, maybe not...but to a Mommy who feels like she has blinked and 8 years have passed by, it definitely does ;)

Connor-man has had some pretty great birthday celebrations, but this past week might take the cake, simply because we did exactly what he wanted to do.

*Ate homemade cupcakes decorated like little monkeys at school with his friends and even got to check out a little early :)

*We had a laser tag and bounce party last weekend for his closest buddies on Sunday evening..which preceded an entire week of being out of school for Thanksgiving Break.

*Our family ate at O'Charley's on Tuesday night, then came back to Nona and Papa's for cake and ice cream.

*Connor's buddy Wright spent the night with him after eating at O'Charleys - and it wasn't just an ordinary spend-the-night. Papa had made a teepee, fire pit, and special chairs so that the boys could roast marshmallows, tell ghost stories, and write their Christmas lists to Santa (on wooden tablets carved by Papa as well). It was one cool birthday celebration.

*The gifts were "awesome" this year (in the words of Connor) and included gift cards to Target, money, tickets to Monster Truck Jam in January, Legos, his first pocket knife (John Wayne commemorative edition, no less) and more fun stuff!

*He also had a fishing day with Papa on "Black Friday" and caught around 30 fish then fried them for dinner that night.

Needless to say, it was a great week! Here are a few pictures for proof ;)

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with Connor...he loved every second and loves all of you.

Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving was wonderful this year, as it always is. The only downside is that we missed some of the family members at my Nanny & Papa's because of a stomach bug...we enjoyed the food and laughs, but it just wasn't the same without our whole rowdy bunch being together. Oh well, it makes us look extra forward to Christmas! I didn't get any pictures with my side of the family :-( and I feel like that always happens...I need to make sure and get lots at Christmas as well. A few weeks ago Angela took lots of pictures for the Caylor family at our Thanksgiving gathering, I can't wait to see how those turned out - nobody really likes to take pictures, but they are so fun to look back on and I don't think you can ever have too many.

Some of my favorite pictures from Thanksgiving Day...

As you can see, we had a fun day, we are so blessed. I never posted on facebook, but I am thankful for my Salvation, my family and friends and their good health, for answered prayers time and time again, and for all of the many blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon me. I do not deserve anything that He has given me, but I am sure thankful.

Hope you had as happy a Thanksgiving as we did...
