Are you ready for some football?!

I love many things about the South, but one of the main things is Fall and everything that comes along with it. One of the things about Fall that we love is FOOTBALL! When I was little, I loved when my parents would watch football and make "redneck nachos!" I loved cheerleading for football. I love getting together with friends and family to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs. I even love aggravating Drew by chanting "Roll Tide!" to him throughout the season. ;)

Before I had Connor, I could only see myself with a little girl. It is all I had ever known other than my sweet boy cousin, Dalton. However, when I watched Dalton play football when he was really little, I thought to myself that was the cutest thing I had ever seen. When I found out that I was having a little boy, I couldn't wait for him to one day play football (if he wanted to and luckily he did)!  Last night was his first practice, and he loved it! Even though it was hot and tiring, he never once complained. We are also excited that he is on a great team and has several buddies playing with him. I am praying that all of these sweet kids stay safe and have a blast!

Connor at his first pads/helmet practice yesterday in the blue jersey. Love that sweetness, even if he does look like tough stuff.

Some of these e-card things are so funny, this one is definitely true!

By the way, Drew is off of work today and we had planned to spend the day relaxing at the pool before school starts tomorrow...that's not going to happen with this rainy, dreary weather. Oh well, we will improvise.

Love to all!

Summer Days...

Unfortunately, the Summer is coming close to an end. Sure, we will have plenty of hot days left but as I am sure everyone is aware, school starts next week. Yesterday I took Connor to the dentist, and he got a great report...yay!!! When I asked about his two front teeth and when they would finally come in, his dentist told me there was really no way to tell. She said we could do a developmental x-ray if we wanted, which insurance does not cover, so we opted out. She also said that she knows the teeth are definitely there - so I guess that's all that matters. For now, we will keep on loving this big smile without the two front teeth.

Connor's face is blue and looks like he is the cookie monster because he was eating "C is for Cookie" ice cream from the new sweet shop on E. Cherokee Drive, Sweet Escapes. It is a cute little place with ice cream, cupcakes, cookies, and coffee. I haven't tried the ice cream yet, but I did have a cute little chocolate cupcake that was delish!

We are going to try to soak in our last days of Summer break by the pool and going to revival at our church. If we are lucky, maybe this sweet little princess will come swim with us some more! She did great in the pool on Sunday while LuLu held her the whole time, haha...no complaints from me!

8

Today is mine and Drew's 8th wedding anniversary. I love this picture of us because we were all dressed up for a fun, fun night at Kimmy & Louis' wedding in Charleston last September. I also love it because Drew just smiled and went with it when I showed him his turquoise bow tie that I wanted him to wear to match my earrings :) Hey, what can I say...he knew I was used to getting my way when he married me! haha. All kidding aside, I am so blessed that Drew is my husband. We have grown up together over the last decade and have loved every step of the way no matter how hard it has been at times. I love knowing that we will always love each other - something I have never once doubted.

Since our anniversary fell on a Wednesday this year, we are going to wait and go out this weekend - looking very forward to that!

So, Happy Anniversary Drew! Here's to many, many, many more........

Sweet Tooth Sunday

One thing Connor and I definitely have in common is our sweet tooth. We both love sweets and never pass up dessert. Fortunately for Connor, he has his Daddy's metabolism!

Some of my favorite sweets are:

1. Confetti Cake - I used to eat this all the time when I was pregnant with Connor. Sure, it might be a dessert for 5 year olds, but I love it!

2. Cupcakes - I love plain white with white buttercream frosting but every now and then I will choose a strawberry or red velvet. I love the cupcakes at the local bakery, Jills Cakes and Bakes.

3. Petit Fours - I also love the petit fours from Jill's Cakes and Bakes. They are amazing!

4. Lemon Pie - Specifically, the lemon pie from Jim N' Nicks! It is made from scratch and fresh daily, this is a fairly new discovery for me...yum yum!

5. Chocolate Chip Cookies - I love warm, chewy chocolate chip cookies. I have never attempted homemade ones but do love the Otis Spunkmeyer ones that are often sold as fundraisers for school and such. The secret to the perfect CC cookie in my opinion is to take them out 5 minutes or so before they are supposed to be taken out of the oven.

So, am I alone here or does anyone else have a crazy sweet tooth?

Randomness

If you know me well, you know that I am the most random person ever. I have a tendency to jump from thoughts "A" to "B" in less than a second without any warning. I believe that is called ADD or ADHD...oops. You might want to stop reading this blog post now if that sort of thing annoys you because, it is bound to be super random!

*Do you all ever think you have lost something so important and then randomly find it a few months later? This happened with my Canon Rebel battery charger. I lost it sometime after Harper was born and my grandparents anniversary party and had no clue where it was. One day I was going to Best Buy to purchase a new battery charger (for around $50 or more) and found my charger in the console of my parents' tahoe! I was so happy to have found it and finally upload pics from the anniversary party and to be able to use my camera again.

*My Nanny & Papa celebrated 50 years of marriage this year, what an accomplishment. I love the two of them more than I could ever describe. You could say a lot of good things about both of them, but I think anyone that knows them would tell you just how much they love their family. They are the best!

*A few months ago Gigi treated Connor to a trip to the brand new "LEGOLAND" at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. Getting the tickets ahead of time was kind of tricky at first while we tried to do it online, so Gigi drove down to Phipps to get tickets the day before we were supposed to go to ensure Connor would get to go during his school break. Legoland was a lot of fun! One of the rides was broken though :( However, the 3D movie was a lot of fun! Connor loved studying the diagrams of Turner Field and the city of Atlanta and many other local attractions that had been lego-fied very closely.

*For the past couple of years I have been painting my own nails and toes a lot more often than I used to. I have also been loving venturing out with different colors. However, I LOVE a good nude polish. My sister makes fun of me and asks what the point of nude nail polish is but I don't care, I love it and definitely think it is classic rather than trendy - but what do I know? ;) Oh, and do you like how I went from Legos to nail colors in a split second? Told ya - I am random!

*Every now and then I will find an app that I absolutely love and recently, it was "Spotify" - if you like music and have an iPhone or iPod, you need this app.

Ok, I think I am finished with the random rambling....

Happy Weekend!

Little Boys

"Mischief, giggles, fun, and love...That's what little boys are made of!"

Connor had one of his buddies from school over to spend the night this weekend and they had a lot of fun. We went to the new Lego store at North Point (Connor's new favorite place), to Frosty Frog to get some ice cream, and then home for some swimming before going to church on Friday night.

Connor is obsessed with Lego mini figures right now. Lego has created different series that they release and they are making a fortune on these little things. At the new Lego store they had a "build your own" mini figure station, and Connor loved it.

We left out of there without spending Connor's entire life savings. But, he did get a little treat ;) Yes I am a sucker!

After we left the mall, the boys wanted to go by Frosty Frog. They picked the ice cream that tastes like fruit loops....whatever floats your boat I guess ;)

Hope you are having a good weekend!

Brought to You Courtesy of The Red, White, and Blue

We had a low-key but fun 4th yesterday. Connor and I went to the pool with Gigi and Pa and then went to a cookout at the lake where Drew met us when he got off of work. The weather was pretty all day with just a minor shower in the evening. Connor played in the pool and then even in the lake (ew, I know) all day. When we left the campground, we asked Connor if he wanted to go watch fireworks in Canton and he mustered up a tired response of "I don't care." Since we were being 3 sleepy heads, we headed home. Because my big camera is out of commission right now and I didn't even snap any pics on my iPhone, I will share some of my favorite red, white, and blue images with you.

Last but not least, how fabulous is the picture below of Nancy and Ronald? Love, love, love.

Beach Trip - June 2012

After Dinner @ Angelo's on June 26th, 2012

We took a last minute trip to the beach this year with Erick, Katie, and Harper. It was a lot of fun, especially after Tropical Storm Debbie got out of the way. This is the first time in years that I was at the beach without a camera, so naturally, I had to use my iPhone to take lots of pics, I posted most of them on facebook so I will not be obnoxious and post them all on here. However, we had a great time, and most of the pictures are of our kids giggling and having fun...what more could we ask for?! We joked about how our families definitely know how to spend lots of money on food. I think I gained 10 pounds or more during 7 days. Boondock's was delicious! We were blessed and fortunate to have such a great vacation...we look forward to many more with our sweet family! Drew, Connor, and I joked about being sad not waking up to Harper in the mornings when vacation was over :-(

Connor's sweetest time was always in the morning right when he woke up when he was a baby, and that is definitely Harper's "happy time" - she was too adorable for words this past week! Connor enjoyed the ocean as he always does. Katie and I were talking about how Connor for the first time in years did not sit in the sand for hours and hours and play with his tractors. Right now, his thing is legos, legos, and more legos. He did dig a big hole and play in the ocean for hours though!

Connor was ready to get home to see all of his grandparents and Ashley!

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday and we made it home just in time to sit and talk with him for a while and tell him all about the trip. So, Happy belated to Daddy/Papa! We love you lots!

I am excited this week for revival @ LBC and for the other revivals coming up. With recent events, we have all spent a lot of time praying for loved ones that have gone through a living nightmare. I do not see how people make it through this world without a relationship with the Lord!

Please remember to continue to pray for the Kelley family as they gave their little angel back to God. What a blessing to know that we will see her again! I blogged last year about her during revival time, and that is just one of many, many times she has blessed me and my family during her life.
