Connor's 8th Birthday

Every year I find myself saying "I can't believe Connor is going to be X years old" - but this year it just truly seemed unreal. 8 years old sounds so old, doesn't it? Ok, maybe not...but to a Mommy who feels like she has blinked and 8 years have passed by, it definitely does ;)

Connor-man has had some pretty great birthday celebrations, but this past week might take the cake, simply because we did exactly what he wanted to do.

*Ate homemade cupcakes decorated like little monkeys at school with his friends and even got to check out a little early :)

*We had a laser tag and bounce party last weekend for his closest buddies on Sunday evening..which preceded an entire week of being out of school for Thanksgiving Break.

*Our family ate at O'Charley's on Tuesday night, then came back to Nona and Papa's for cake and ice cream.

*Connor's buddy Wright spent the night with him after eating at O'Charleys - and it wasn't just an ordinary spend-the-night. Papa had made a teepee, fire pit, and special chairs so that the boys could roast marshmallows, tell ghost stories, and write their Christmas lists to Santa (on wooden tablets carved by Papa as well). It was one cool birthday celebration.

*The gifts were "awesome" this year (in the words of Connor) and included gift cards to Target, money, tickets to Monster Truck Jam in January, Legos, his first pocket knife (John Wayne commemorative edition, no less) and more fun stuff!

*He also had a fishing day with Papa on "Black Friday" and caught around 30 fish then fried them for dinner that night.

Needless to say, it was a great week! Here are a few pictures for proof ;)

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with Connor...he loved every second and loves all of you.

Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving was wonderful this year, as it always is. The only downside is that we missed some of the family members at my Nanny & Papa's because of a stomach bug...we enjoyed the food and laughs, but it just wasn't the same without our whole rowdy bunch being together. Oh well, it makes us look extra forward to Christmas! I didn't get any pictures with my side of the family :-( and I feel like that always happens...I need to make sure and get lots at Christmas as well. A few weeks ago Angela took lots of pictures for the Caylor family at our Thanksgiving gathering, I can't wait to see how those turned out - nobody really likes to take pictures, but they are so fun to look back on and I don't think you can ever have too many.

Some of my favorite pictures from Thanksgiving Day...

As you can see, we had a fun day, we are so blessed. I never posted on facebook, but I am thankful for my Salvation, my family and friends and their good health, for answered prayers time and time again, and for all of the many blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon me. I do not deserve anything that He has given me, but I am sure thankful.

Hope you had as happy a Thanksgiving as we did...

Boys of Fall

Thought I would share some of the pictures that my friend Vickie, also the team mom for football, takes of our boys. She is getting some great shots, I can't wait to see all of the pictures by the end of the season. Connor is doing better each time he goes onto the field, and we are proud of him for keeping up the hard work. His next game isn't for 2 weeks, but we have plenty of things to keep us busy until then!

Connor was one of the captain's at the game we had two weeks ago!

For those of you who are lucky enough to be at the beach or on vacation this week for Fall Break, enjoy every second! Connor is looking forward to some downtime and playing. I am not looking forward to lots of quality time with my Genetics textbook. I thought the last two semesters were the hardest for me, but I was so wrong.

Love to all - Lindsey

Dum Dum Tree

Last night Ash and I sat with my Mom as she made a little "dum dum tree" for her desk at school. What is a dum dum tree you ask? Well, I will show you...

Mom says this is for her kids at school to have a little treat when they come to see her, but if you know my Mom and her candy habits, you know she will probably enjoy some of these herself :)

Football and Wedding Fun

After a busy week of school and work, we also had a busy weekend. Friday night Connor's best friend had his birthday party at Canton pool and luckily the kids had a great time and swam lots before the storms rolled in. Then early Saturday morning, we got ready to go to Woodstock for Con's football jamboree. Even though it sprinkled some and was kind of messy, the weather felt nice and it was a lot of fun. I am not sure there is anything cuter than these handsome guys dressed out in their football gear! We are fortunate to be playing with several of our close family members and friends and are so happy about that!

You can't see his number perfectly in this picture since he is down and ready to play, but Con is #45 for football this year!

After the jamboree, we went to a baby shower for Kimmy and baby Caroline. I am not sure I have seen a prettier pregnant person, but then again, I would not expect anything less. Love that sweet girl like the older sister I never had! Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures at the shower :-(

Next, we attended our sweet friends' wedding at The Wheeler House. The wedding had such a relaxed vibe and you could see the love between Nick and Brittany at all times. The guys stood around catching up, and the girls did the same! We shared lots of laughs and were cracking up that most of our conversations revolve around our children. Oh my, how things change!

The picture below made me laugh out loud! Jill is my best friend in the whole world, we rarely have time to slow down to take pictures together but when we do, we make sure to tell the photographer (in this case Lee) exactly what to can see us preparing

By the way, Jill has started a blog so that we can keep up with her sweetest little blonde headed boy. Love this child and his sweet grins! Check out Blessed By Bentley and leave Jill a comment letting her know if you will be reading so she will UPDATE more!!! ;)

Two of the funniest brunettes I never have to wonder what these girls are thinking...that is my kind of friend!

And kudos to Nick & Britt for feeding us all delicious bar*b*q with delicious brunswick stew..need to get that recipe from Britt's Mama!

Here's to having a fantastic week of work and school to you all...

Pinteresting Picks

If you aren't on Pinterest, you are seriously missing out. I thought I would share some of my favorite pinterest finds with you all.

These taco bites would be the perfect snack for a pool party!

Love this super frilly chair!

Obsessed! I can't wait to try and make one of these.

I MUST own a farmhouse sink one day! Isn't this kitchen dreamy?!

Gorgeous closet for a little boy ;)

And that's all for now!

Are you ready for some football?!

I love many things about the South, but one of the main things is Fall and everything that comes along with it. One of the things about Fall that we love is FOOTBALL! When I was little, I loved when my parents would watch football and make "redneck nachos!" I loved cheerleading for football. I love getting together with friends and family to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs. I even love aggravating Drew by chanting "Roll Tide!" to him throughout the season. ;)

Before I had Connor, I could only see myself with a little girl. It is all I had ever known other than my sweet boy cousin, Dalton. However, when I watched Dalton play football when he was really little, I thought to myself that was the cutest thing I had ever seen. When I found out that I was having a little boy, I couldn't wait for him to one day play football (if he wanted to and luckily he did)!  Last night was his first practice, and he loved it! Even though it was hot and tiring, he never once complained. We are also excited that he is on a great team and has several buddies playing with him. I am praying that all of these sweet kids stay safe and have a blast!

Connor at his first pads/helmet practice yesterday in the blue jersey. Love that sweetness, even if he does look like tough stuff.

Some of these e-card things are so funny, this one is definitely true!

By the way, Drew is off of work today and we had planned to spend the day relaxing at the pool before school starts tomorrow...that's not going to happen with this rainy, dreary weather. Oh well, we will improvise.

Love to all!

Summer Days...

Unfortunately, the Summer is coming close to an end. Sure, we will have plenty of hot days left but as I am sure everyone is aware, school starts next week. Yesterday I took Connor to the dentist, and he got a great report...yay!!! When I asked about his two front teeth and when they would finally come in, his dentist told me there was really no way to tell. She said we could do a developmental x-ray if we wanted, which insurance does not cover, so we opted out. She also said that she knows the teeth are definitely there - so I guess that's all that matters. For now, we will keep on loving this big smile without the two front teeth.

Connor's face is blue and looks like he is the cookie monster because he was eating "C is for Cookie" ice cream from the new sweet shop on E. Cherokee Drive, Sweet Escapes. It is a cute little place with ice cream, cupcakes, cookies, and coffee. I haven't tried the ice cream yet, but I did have a cute little chocolate cupcake that was delish!

We are going to try to soak in our last days of Summer break by the pool and going to revival at our church. If we are lucky, maybe this sweet little princess will come swim with us some more! She did great in the pool on Sunday while LuLu held her the whole time, complaints from me!

Today is mine and Drew's 8th wedding anniversary. I love this picture of us because we were all dressed up for a fun, fun night at Kimmy & Louis' wedding in Charleston last September. I also love it because Drew just smiled and went with it when I showed him his turquoise bow tie that I wanted him to wear to match my earrings :) Hey, what can I say...he knew I was used to getting my way when he married me! haha. All kidding aside, I am so blessed that Drew is my husband. We have grown up together over the last decade and have loved every step of the way no matter how hard it has been at times. I love knowing that we will always love each other - something I have never once doubted.

Since our anniversary fell on a Wednesday this year, we are going to wait and go out this weekend - looking very forward to that!

So, Happy Anniversary Drew! Here's to many, many, many more........

Sweet Tooth Sunday

One thing Connor and I definitely have in common is our sweet tooth. We both love sweets and never pass up dessert. Fortunately for Connor, he has his Daddy's metabolism!

Some of my favorite sweets are:

1. Confetti Cake - I used to eat this all the time when I was pregnant with Connor. Sure, it might be a dessert for 5 year olds, but I love it!

2. Cupcakes - I love plain white with white buttercream frosting but every now and then I will choose a strawberry or red velvet. I love the cupcakes at the local bakery, Jills Cakes and Bakes.

3. Petit Fours - I also love the petit fours from Jill's Cakes and Bakes. They are amazing!

4. Lemon Pie - Specifically, the lemon pie from Jim N' Nicks! It is made from scratch and fresh daily, this is a fairly new discovery for me...yum yum!

5. Chocolate Chip Cookies - I love warm, chewy chocolate chip cookies. I have never attempted homemade ones but do love the Otis Spunkmeyer ones that are often sold as fundraisers for school and such. The secret to the perfect CC cookie in my opinion is to take them out 5 minutes or so before they are supposed to be taken out of the oven.

So, am I alone here or does anyone else have a crazy sweet tooth?

If you know me well, you know that I am the most random person ever. I have a tendency to jump from thoughts "A" to "B" in less than a second without any warning. I believe that is called ADD or ADHD...oops. You might want to stop reading this blog post now if that sort of thing annoys you because, it is bound to be super random!

*Do you all ever think you have lost something so important and then randomly find it a few months later? This happened with my Canon Rebel battery charger. I lost it sometime after Harper was born and my grandparents anniversary party and had no clue where it was. One day I was going to Best Buy to purchase a new battery charger (for around $50 or more) and found my charger in the console of my parents' tahoe! I was so happy to have found it and finally upload pics from the anniversary party and to be able to use my camera again.

*My Nanny & Papa celebrated 50 years of marriage this year, what an accomplishment. I love the two of them more than I could ever describe. You could say a lot of good things about both of them, but I think anyone that knows them would tell you just how much they love their family. They are the best!

*A few months ago Gigi treated Connor to a trip to the brand new "LEGOLAND" at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. Getting the tickets ahead of time was kind of tricky at first while we tried to do it online, so Gigi drove down to Phipps to get tickets the day before we were supposed to go to ensure Connor would get to go during his school break. Legoland was a lot of fun! One of the rides was broken though :( However, the 3D movie was a lot of fun! Connor loved studying the diagrams of Turner Field and the city of Atlanta and many other local attractions that had been lego-fied very closely.

*For the past couple of years I have been painting my own nails and toes a lot more often than I used to. I have also been loving venturing out with different colors. However, I LOVE a good nude polish. My sister makes fun of me and asks what the point of nude nail polish is but I don't care, I love it and definitely think it is classic rather than trendy - but what do I know? ;) Oh, and do you like how I went from Legos to nail colors in a split second? Told ya - I am random!

*Every now and then I will find an app that I absolutely love and recently, it was "Spotify" - if you like music and have an iPhone or iPod, you need this app.

Ok, I think I am finished with the random rambling....

Happy Weekend!
