Light At the End of The Tunnel!

Well, the last time I blogged was during the middle of August about a week before I started school. I am trying to stop complaining about this being the hardest semester of my college career, but sometimes I feel like I am on the verge of a nervous breakdown. However, I can truly see the light at the end of the tunnel (there are just a few big projects in the way). My last day of class is December 2nd, and I am going to "just keep swimming" until I make it there. We learn so many valuable things as children, "I think I can, I think I can!"

Speaking of children, Connor turns SEVEN in a few days. Have I mentioned that I am on the verge of a nervous breakdown? haha...kidding! In all seriousness, I still can't fully grasp that I have been blessed with this brown-eyed sweetest little boy for seven years, can't wait to celebrate!

We ended Fall Ball and literally started basketball within a few days after. Last night was our first practice, and it went well. Drew is coaching and he did a great job. I told him he might need the patience of Job to deal with that many 7 year olds!

I will try to blog more, if I am not careful, I will look back in 10 years and not have recorded near as much as I wanted to :)

Our week in iPhone photos

Since my parents took Ashley to college a few days ago, we stayed at their house. We had to watch Brinkley, I had to "watch" the pool for them, and their bed is so comfortable you feel like you're sleeping on clouds! Seriously, if you are ever in the market for a new mattress, speak with parents about what kind they bought - it's ah-mazing!!! You can see above that Connor was happy to be "camping out" at Nona & Papa's house!

Brinkley has been such a good boy while we have "dogsat" him. Connor loved playing in the yard and running with him. They wore each other out.

Evidence that my parents bed is magical...this is literally 5 minutes after Connor got in the bed. Out like a light!

Obviously, these pictures aren't in order, but this is a piece of furniture that went into Ashley's new dorm. I thought it was so cute. Maybe she will give it to me when she is tired of it :)

More evidence of the magical bed...again, 3 to 5 minutes after Connor laid down in it.

Ashley's things before we loaded up the Honda. I had a knot in my throat the whole day, but while I helped pack her car, it was REALLY bad.

Connor said he missed Ash last night, so we took a picture and texted her saying "We are sending you big smiles, we love you!!!"

Lastly, my mom, my nanny, and I ate at Jimmy John's Subs last week and it was really good. A lot of my friends have told me about this place, and I am so glad I tried it! The bread was delicious!

One more thing...

Connor made a 104 on his spelling test this week!!! The challenge words were "beach" and "ocean" and he spelled them both correctly. I realize this is bragging, but I don't care...we are so proud of him! If you haven't checked out his class website, you must do that. His teacher posts pictures and keeps it updated so well. We love her, and we are loving this year already! If you need the link to the website, shoot me an email.

brown eyed girl

I think I will purchase this picture in an 8x10 and put it on my nightstand! I am not going to know what to do without those big brown eyes in my life everyday. Luckily, Connor inherited Ashley's big brown eyes that I love so much...so that helps ;)

I can't really put into words how I feel since my little sissy is leaving tomorrow. I am so proud of Ash. In a world where there is so much than can go "wrong" - Ashley has proven to be such a great kid, and now adult. She has always been wise beyond her years, and because of this, I know she will be just fine on her own. Although I am older, anyone who knows us will tell you that she is my rock. She has been a voice of reason for me many, many times. Even when we were little and I would talk back to my Mom, she would say "just shut up before you make it worse!" -- if only I had heeded her advice more often than not ;)

Even though I have given her a hard time about leaving, I am so proud of her and can't stand the thoughts of her missing out on something her heart desires. She has always supported me, and I will support her as well. I had a big, ugly cry this morning and a long talk with God asking him to keep her safe above all things. On the way home, Connor told me that he would miss Ashley but that "God will watch out for her since we can't." Connor knew just what to say to comfort me, because little did he know, I was in the front seat driving with tears in my eyes thinking about tomorrow. There's a lot more I could say in this post, but the knot in my throat is not so fun right now.

I am sending all of my love with Ashley and thanking God we can facetime every night...how wonderful technology can be!

2 Things I'm Loving

I would always see my sister eating Greek yogurt, but it grossed me out. Even though it looked delicious and creamy, I just couldn't imagine what it would taste like. I finally stopped acting like a child yesterday and tried a bite of hers...which turned into 10 bites. I LOVED it! Sadly, the brand I ate at my parents house had a lot of ingredients since it was from Dannon and it had fructose, so I went to Publix to get another brand that Ash likes, Chobani,  (as pictured above). The vanilla wasn't as vanilla-ish tasting as I wanted it to be. But, I loved the blueberry and the black cherry...yummy!!!

In efforts to stay away from cokes, diet cokes, sprite, etc., I have tried to find something that I can drink in the morning other than plain water. While I do love coffee, I drink it all the time. I feel like my body needs a detox from it before I start living off of it in a few weeks when classes start again. Enter, La Croix (also pictured above). La Croix only has two ingredients: carbonated water and grapefruit juice. It's the perfect fizz-fix that I've been looking for! And, no I didn't just buy the drink because the colors on the box are pretty :)

Do you eat greek yogurt or drink la croix? If so, tell me your favorite kinds!

Change, change, change....

Change, it is a coming. Even though we have probably argued every single day of our lives, and we have probably almost killed each other, my sissy is my best friend. She truly knows every single thing about me, and she still loves me. I am the same way with her. I have cried a lot, mostly when I am by myself, about Ash leaving. However, I am truly so happy for her and more than that, so proud of her. This isn't the last post about Ash going to college, so you might just want to skip over the long sappy one I will write in a few days (or weeks).

Just in this one little picture (from Tybee Island/Savannah trip) - I can think of a million memories - ash making fun of my nail polish color, not being satisfied with the curl job she did on my hair (hence, the pony tail), clinging to each other for dear life when we didn't understand things going on around us, and her being my "crutch" yet again. There has never been a dull moment, just ask our Mom and Daddy.

Now, the point of this whole post was to let you all know that I forced persuaded  Ash to start her own blog. Some big shot will probably find it one day on the world wide web and want her to write a book. We all know just how dang funny she is. Can't wait to read all about your college experience sissy!

Ready or Not...

....Here we come, first grade! Connor is really excited about the new school year and was even more excited when I told him that his swimming days are far from over...we are in Georgia, folks...we can still squeeze in plenty of pool time during the hot days ahead. Thanks to Gigi for some new tennis shoes and to Nona for lots of new comfortable yet stylish "soft clothes" - we are ready to hit the ground running into the new school year. I have a good feeling about Con's teacher, and I think he is going to learn a lot. I pray that this is a successful and SAFE school year for everyone!

Just a few picture of our kitchen earlier as we were laying out school supplies and deciding which ones were actually on our list...

As you can see from the picture above, we are definitely prepared for snack time! Also, as I was filling out the 57th paper (ha!) from the folder to send back to school, I wanted to write in red on a big piece of paper..."My Mom works at the school, she can tell you any of this info in 1.3 seconds!" - But, I know I have to fill out 100 papers just like everyone else. Ok, maybe it was only 10 papers...but you get the point.

Seriously, God Bless you all who are kicking off the school year tomorrow!

Tis the Old Time Religion

I heard one of the strongest, sweetest, most loving children I know sing this old gospel song last night, and I've been singing it all morning. As Abigail was singing this song last night, I immediately had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat and was thankful to have been brought up in the "Old Time Religion" where the Gospel was always preached and where I was able to be convicted and saved by God's grace.

It's the old time religion, it's the old time religion, it's the old time religion....it's good enough for me!

It was good for my mother, it was good for my mother, it was good for my mother....it's good enough for me!

It was good for my father, it was good for my father, it was good for my father...it's good enough for me!

It will take us all to heaven, it will take us all to heaven, it will take us all to heaven...it's good enough for me!
Hearing that little innocent voice singing that song was my favorite part of the whole service!

Captain America

Last night we took Connor and Camden to see "Captain America: The First Avenger" - and it was awesome! That's saying a lot coming from me, the girliest girl, ever! The boys were on the edge of their seats and loved every second of it - and by boys, I mean Connor, Camden, and Drew! Connor did get a little nervous during the "red skull" scenes and covered his eyes, but other than that, they had a blast.

And yes, I was a sucker fun mommy and let them have a bag of buttery popcorn and two coke slushies! Connor was so excited to wear his "Avengers" shirt.

Today is the last weekend of Summer :(
I hope all of you soak up as much sun as possible, that's definitely what we plan to do!

I love these inspiring images. Jillian Michaels recently said in an interview that she hates running but that she does it because runners are skinny. Nuff' said! I always start, and then I give up. Not this time.

If anyone out there is reading this and is a runner and could offer some tips for me, I would love to hear them.

Happy 7th Anniversary

Today is our SEVENTH wedding anniversary. Seven years might not seem like a lot to some people, but it is a lot to me. Drew and I started "going out" 10 years ago in July and we got married 7 years ago in July. We have loved each other, grown together, and experienced a lot in 10 years. Umm...holy cow...10 years is a decade! I hope we have many, many, many more decades together. We had "date night" on Saturday night and laughed so much and ate a delicious supper. Tonight we are eating BLT's and talking about how stinking cute our son is while we watch him fall asleep on the couch...we are so blessed.

Happy 7th Anniversary to us...here's to many, many, many more...

this & that

I snapped this picture with my phone yesterday before Connor went to church with Nona, Papa, and Ashley. I am partial, but I think he's the cutest little boy in the world!

The picture above shows my favorite lunch from vacation. Fresh corn, fresh tomato sandwich, and a bottled coke...doesn't get much better than that!

I am SO anxious for the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to come back on! I love Lisa and Kyle, but I am definitely entertained by Camille.

I was loving the birthday present that we gave to our little cousin, the wrapping (which I did myself) was just the icing on the cake.

That's all I have! Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Vacation Recap

I shared a few of my favorite pictures with y'all, but if you're my facebook friend you know there's about 90 more! We had another awesome family vacation and laughed a LOT! Like always, we ate way too much good food and soaked in way too much sun...just the way I like it! One sweet couple from Dad's church sent homemade corn, homemade biscuits, and tenderloin plus some other goodies (bottled coke) with us and it was gone before the 2nd day even ended. Delicious! We also ate at Boondock's twice because Dad loves it, and we discovered a new place to take beach pictures at St. Andrews Park, the sunset picture above is from that area...it was gorgeous. Connor played from sun up until sun down every day on the sand and was in and out of the ocean the whole time. We are SO lucky that he's a beach baby like we are. I have to say, we were very blessed to have such clear water. There was only one day of seaweed, and the rest of the time the water was pristine. Connor also started learning to skim board! We celebrated Dad's 44th birthday in Florida, and I just kept thinking about how I have "young and cool" parents...I am truly not saying that to suck up, they ARE the greatest. Connor is lucky to have young and hip grandparents on both sides, we all know he takes full advantage of that! We didn't stay in the condo of our friends' that we've stayed in for the past 4 years, and let me tell ya...we missed it!!! However, we are so thankful that we were able to go and enjoy a week, it truly is always a great time. Drew and I have grown up going to the white sandy beaches on the gulf coast, specifically Panama City Beach, and I am so happy that Connor enjoys getting to go as well.

On another note, my parents got home on Saturday afternoon from the trip and dove straight into a week of revival. We made it to a few services and enjoyed them all. I kick myself whenever I don't get to church, I missed out on some huge blessings and will definitely be going to more services this week!

Love to all -
