Just a few things...

Connor is doing fantastic in school! He had his first sight word test on Tuesday, and he got them all right! We have already started practicing list #2 of his sight words. Everyday when I look into his folder, I am so eager to see what he accomplished and if he has any homework. Drew helped him with his homework the other night before I got home from work, and Mrs. A wrote "WOW!" on the worksheet they had worked on! =) He had to draw a pattern, and even with his left hand, he did an awesome job.

I think we all know how much of a summer-lover I am. I love pool days, beach time, and lots of sunshine! However, I am actually really looking forward to cooler weather and fall time in Georgia.

Work is going good. There is a lot to learn, but I take it as a good sign that I actually enjoy going to work and never get bored!

One more thing, I am taking Con to the doctor tomorrow for his arm. I am not really sure what to expect, but *hoping* that they might take his cast off. We shall see....

Have a great day and smile, because tomorrow is Friday ;)

Whew!!!

We have been busy as bees lately! I am sure you all are thinking "join the club!" As usual, Drew is working daily in this hot weather, and I know he is so ready for Fall and hunting season to begin. Connor is doing great with his cast, it hasn't slowed him down at all, and I am not sure this is necessarily a good thing. We have been reminding him constantly to "cool it" or he could hurt his arm worse or break the other one. To be honest, it doesn't seem to phase him. He is still loving kindergarten and is so excited when I open up his folder everyday to show me what he has completed. And as for me, I am adjusting to my new job at the pharmacy. I am so thankful for this job, I just have to keep telling myself that during the learning process ;)

On an unrelated and completely different topic, for the next couple of weeks when you see me, my skin might look all flaky and gross, so I am warning you now. In efforts to reduce acne, wrinkles, and sun spots, I am using this stuff....
You can read all about how it works here.

I forgot to mention that Connor fell asleep last night at 6ish and slept until 6 this morning. He was obviously exhausted! He didn't even get to eat before falling asleep!

Have a great rest of the week!

2 "firsts" in 1 day!

Yesterday was an exciting day to say the least! Little did we know just how exciting it would turn out to be and also somewhat scary. Connor was asleep by 8 pm sharp the night before school and woke up ready to go when I told him it was time to get up and get ready for school. He ate his pancakes and was in the best little mood. He walked into the school like a pro and went to his seat immediately. As a Mommy, you just have that "gut instinct" that lets you know when something is going to be great or when something is going to be not-so-great. And, I knew that today would be GREAT for Connor during his first day in Kindergarten. I had to go to the college to register for classes at 3 pm today (obviously not my choice of timing) - so I went by the school to see Con at the end of the day, and of course, he had had a great day! I took off to register for classes thinking when I got back in an hour or so that Con would sit down and fill me in about his day...um, WRONG! Instead, I called my Mom and found out that Connor had fallen off of the porch at my Nanny's messing around with her swing and it was all chaotic from there! We headed to Urgent Care thinking maybe an arm x-ray would be sufficient and would let us know everything was alright. Except, on the way there, Connor could not hold his eyes open. I was talking to him loudly and sitting in the back with him trying to get him to wake up, but he couldn't stay that way. So, Mom and I got scared and told Urgent Care about this when we got there. They advised that we take him onto the ER. I suggested to Mom that maybe we should just go on to Scottish Rite, because I've heard how efficient they are even with the smallest of injuries, but it is a long drive, so I wasn't sure what to do. We called someone who has too much experience with the ER atmosphere, Amy, and she advised us just to go to SR. So, after meeting gigi with the insurance card, off we went....! Connor was so so so brave and although he was a little anxious at first about being in the "hospital" - he was awesome and so easy to deal with. He was so scared of what they would do to his arm, so when the RN asked him if it hurt he said "not too bad." Fortunately, he saw that taking x-rays is no big deal, and we were out of there by 7:30 with the blue cast, new sling, and the fireman pillow in tow. The pillow was a nice surprise seeing as we didn't think he could take it home, and he wanted to really badly! Of course, gigi and nona were trying to figure out where to buy the fabric and who could make an exact copy of that pillow for Con. Anyway, he slept great through the night except for waking up at 3:30 crying with some pain, so we gave him some ibuprofen and he was back asleep within minutes and is currently still sleeping.

I had my camera from morning until night yesterday, so I have lots of pictures to share with y'all! ;)

My phone was blowing up with calls and texts last night, so if I didn't get back with you, I am so sorry. We were just trying to get Connor fed, home, and situated. I will keep you all posted! Hoping for an uneventful rest of the week... ;)
Love to you all!

T'was the night before Kindergarten

Today was Katie's first "bridal shower," and it was a lot of fun. She and Erick are already off to a great start with the gifts they've been given, and I know they're really excited to move into their house and organize all of the things and start using them! Katie gave the bridesmaids that gave the shower the adorable totes that you see above. They're actually a cooler, and I can't wait to use mine! I loved the pattern of the bag and the color of the monogram. Thanks, Katie!

As you can see from the pictures above, we are all ready for the first day of Kindergarten tomorrow. The backpack is ready to go and fully stocked with the requested supplies. We even put together a big container that has all kinds of goodies that we are donating to Mrs. Abbott's class! Connor is so excited, he went to bed at 7:55 and was OUT by 8:00 sharp. I am so proud of him for going right to sleep. Everyone keeps asking if I am sad that Connor is going to Kindergarten. In a way, I am sad, but I am mostly so proud of him for is excitement and enthusiasm for learning and going to school. I have to admit that since my Mom is there, things are 100000 times easier on my end.
I hope you all have a great day tomorrow, and I will update the blog tomorrow night with lots of pictures and a "first day of Kindergarten" recap. Also, thanks to Nona and GiGi for the school supplies :) Love to you all!
