After a long day at the pool, nothing is better than curling up with a blanket and watching some Tom & Jerry before bedtime. This reminds me, it is time to start letting go of our "anytime goes" bedtime schedule and working on a school bedtime schedule. I wish I could say I am ready for Summer to end, but I am not. Yesterday was really fun, we went to my Mom and Dad's to swim. Connor had fun riding four wheelers with his Papa, and I enjoyed some relaxing time in the pool. It was too hot to lay beside the pool, so I was in the water the entire time. Katie and Erick came to swim with us yesterday evening, and we had fun cracking up at my sister while she entertained for us. We ate mexican food that Mom had cooked (always delicious) and too much homemade ice cream. Tonight, revival at Macedonia starts, so we will be going to church tonight. I will be honest, we are skipping this morning. Connor is still asleep, because he was literally exhausted from yesterday. I have laundry to catch up on and some other things. At least we are going tonight! :)

stress and worries

I think we all know what it is like to feel stressed out and to worry about things (even if they're out of  our control). But really, why worry about things that we have no control over? What good will it do? Today was kind of a stressful day with a screaming child due to immunizations at the pediatrician, some car trouble, and being late for appointments. However, on the way home from the car trouble incident, I just started laughing. My car was making the annoying beeping sound all the way home that most vehicles make when a door is open at the gas station or know the is VERY annoying. My sweet sissy was with me, and we were literally just laughing to keep from crying. Connor was in the back seat saying "Oh Dear Lord, please help us." haha!! I was glad he was praying, because part of me felt like cussing! Whenever I got back to Mom and Dad's house, I calmed down and kept thinking the rest of the night that a little car trouble is really not a huge problem in this world. It's easy to get all dramatic in the heat of things and think "I am so stressed...something else to pay for!" But, honestly, the Lord always provides and gives us what we need.

I went and filled out an application and had a very nice chat with a pharmacist at a local pharmacy that happens to need someone to fill a part-time position. Please say a little prayer that this will work out if it is supposed to. I could really use the experience and the money.

I hope you all have a good night and are enjoying the week, and remember, don't sweat the small stuff....

Love to you all!

planning a trip asap to....

The Children's Museum of Atlanta! After seeing Victoria blog about taking Logan to this cool place, I have to plan a trip to take Connor soon. Tractors, moon sand, and big legos...Connor will LOVE it! Admission prices aren't too bad and seem to be about $12.50 per person. Let me know if you've been and have any opinions about it :)

Tomorrow Allie Grayce and Dalton will be spending the day with us. Angela is back at work, and Connor loves for them to come and stay with us.

Happy 6th Anniversary!

Mom snapped the pic of us above before going to dinner on Saturday night :)

Drew and I could summarize the last six years in one word...growth. Everything about the past six years has been about growing. Our relationship with each other has grown, our relationship with Jesus has grown, Connor has grown (too much), our responsibilities have grown, our desire to buy a home has grown, the things in our house now have accumulated and grown, and our love for each other has grown. I hope the next 6 years and many more are full of growth as well. I am truly so lucky to be married to Drew. He is hard-working, patient, kind, loving, a wonderful Daddy to Connor, a great listener, and so many other wonderful things. I love him with all of my heart and thank God for him daily. Marriage isn't always easy, but it sure is worth it. We had a great weekend spending time together and just relaxing. We had a great anniversary, and I know there will be many many many more! :)

Where a kid can be a kid....

Last night was a rare occasion, I couldn't sleep, so I was up until almost 1 in the morning watching the Kardashians on E! So, this morning, when Connor and I both woke up it was was 9:00 am on the dot. That would have been just fine if we had not scheduled a date (for 10:30 am) to Chuck E Cheese with Jill and the kids that she babysits for. I had also asked my sis to tag along with us and told her we would pick her up around 9:30. Ha, that was obviously not going to happen! Anyway, after texting Jill and letting her know how sorry I was, we ended up meeting them at Chuck E Cheese at 11. The kids had fun playing, but Connor was most concerned with how many tickets he could score and stood at the "game" that just spits out random amounts of tickets when you put a token in each time. He ended up having a little over 200 and walked away with some tiny prizes. Jill and I discussed how Chuck E Cheese has to be making LOTS of money. Ashy was a trooper and helped Connor collect tickets and even bought him some extra tokens when he ran out. He was buddies with her all day.

After leaving Chuck E Cheese and playing on the playground at Chick Fil A for a few minutes, we headed to lunch to discuss the next 2 months of wedding events for Erick and Katie. The wedding is fast approaching and will be here before we know it! I cannot wait to see Connor in his tux!

whistle while you work...

Connor has learned to whistle! He is so excited and constantly wants to show everyone his new trick.

Hope you all are having a great week!

Last night we went to revival at Sharp Mountain, and it was a great service. It was crowded (some people had to sit in chairs), and the preaching was great. My favorite part of the service was when one of the visiting preacher's wives, Stephanie, sang a new song. She has such a sweet and beautiful voice, and it was such a blessing to hear her play the piano and sing.

Connor went home with gigi and pa after we went to church and ate last night, and I have to admit, I feel so confused when he isn't with me. He is such apart of my morning routine that I don't know what to do without him! This morning I threw on some clothes and ran up to Starbucks and now need to do some cleaning and laundry.

I got a text from Amy about 30 minutes ago saying that they had taken Abigail back for surgery. I've been praying hard all morning for A and her medical team. Please say a prayer for them this morning. I was able to talk to her for a few seconds last night, and I told her we love her and know she is going to be such a big girl through all of this (as she always is).

I am off to get some things done...Love to you all!

4th of July Weekend

As you can see from all of the pictures, we definitely had a fun-filled 4th of July weekend. Friday, we went to lunch at Connor's favorite place (O'Charleys) and to see Toy Story 3 with GiGi. I was worried about 3/4 of the way through the movie that Con was losing focus and wanted to leave, but he ended up just needing a bathroom break and did good the rest of the time. It was a cute movie, and I am glad we all got to see it. Saturday night, my Mom had the annual 4th of July cookout for our family and long time family friends, and that was fun! We had been at the pool all day, so I was exhausted, but I still ate way too much food and had a great time with everyone. My Mom works so hard to make sure all of the food is just right and that everyone has a great time, and she pulls it off every year! Dad helps, too. :) After the cookout, Drew, Connor, and I went to the lake with Erick and Katie. We had lots of fun letting Connor ride on the boat, jet ski, and even do some tubing with his Daddy and Erick. My child has NO FEAR, and it scares me to death. As usual, he kept us on our toes and also laughing out loud the entire time. Thanks to Erick and Katie for having us at the lake house, we had a blast! We ended up watching fireworks on the lake with a ton of other  boats, I took a picture, but it is a little dark and hard to see. The fireworks weren't as good as Canton, but they were pretty decent. And, it was so relaxing to sit out on the boat and watch them go off. I hope you all had a great 4th of July! We are SO enjoying our Summer, but it is passing by too quickly. Connor asks every single day when we can go back to the beach, he literally loves it and is in heaven when we are there. He asks if we can stay in "brian and lilah's condo" until August. ha! We wish! I just tell him to keep bugging his Papa, he could definitely get farther than I could ;)

Well, we are off to get ready for the morning service at Longstreet. Drew had to work late, so Connor and I went last night to church. Please continue to remember Abigail in your prayers. My heart is still so heavy for Amy & Shannon. As I've said before, I can't even imagine what they're feeling. But, we will continue to pray for peace and for God to provide anything that anyone involved needs as their little girl goes through this surgery so that it's successful.

Where does the time go? Yesterday, when I woke up, I was wondering how in the world July was already here?! All day yesterday, I kept thinking it is unreal that Connor will be turning SIX on his next birthday in a few months. It is crazy and nearly unbelievable. Anywho, I decided to write down a few things about Connor at this age since this is all about memories from our family.

1. When Connor started eating baby food and for about 2 years after that, he ate everything. Green beans, squash, okra, all kinds of meat and seafood, and any dessert. But lately, it seems as if he has taken on my Mom's diet of being a sugar-a-holic. Of course, Drew and I don't let him eat candy and little debbies all day long, but if he had it his way, that's certainly what he would do. Seriously though, he has become more and more picky. He is still a good eater, but he prefers biscuits, rolls, macaroni and cheese, and potatoes. It is a really good thing that he has his Daddy's metabolism!

2. For the most part, Connor has always been so well-behaved. But, he is smart and definitely knows how to push our buttons. When he throws a little tantrum lately, it is so hard not to laugh. I know how spoiled we were with having such an easy baby and easy toddler, because he is definitely getting kind of an attitude lately and has to be put back into his place. Even still, he is a pretty good kid and knows when it is time to be good.

3. Some things never change, and he is still obsessed with any and all things construction and job site related. He can't talk enough about cherry pickers, bull dozers, backhoes, tractors, cranes, mini excavators, and all other kinds of equipment. He knows all of the brands, and he loves looking at Tractor  trader magazines. He loves to "work" and his little mind is so creative about things like that.

4. He counts to 100 so easily and loves spelling family members names and other little words, and it makes my Mommy heart swell up, because I know he is so smart and can't wait to see how well he does with Kindergarten.

5. He plays well with other kids, and he loves being around them! I promise, he will have a sibling, eventually!

6. He loves watching cartoons. He doesn't really watch a lot of tv, but when he does, he is in a trance and completely occupied. Tom & Jerry makes him laugh hysterically and it is the sweetest sound!

7. He is definitely a water baby and would stay at the beach all summer long if he could. While we were at the beach, he kept saying, "Can we stay until August?" -- ha! Maybe one day!

8. Thankful for this one...but, he no longer gets upset over having to wear polo shirts and khaki shorts.

9. He hates picking up toys when he has been playing in his room, but he has actually been doing a lot better about it for the past week or so.

10. I am not sure if there is a more curious child out there, he has at least 20 questions for every subject.

11. Oh yeah, one more thing, he is such a little "womanizer" - he loves the ladies! I am already storing up prayers for my sanity on this one (ha, I am joking!) -- But, seriously, he is such a little flirt and acts so funny when Ashley has friends around or he is trying to show out. He is ALL boy! Thank you, Lord for that!

Since Connor has been born, every time I pray, I thank the Lord numerous times for such a healthy and precious little boy. We are so blessed and fortunate and never want to take that for granted.

Also, please remember Abigail and her family in your prayers. My heart is so heavy for Amy and Shannon as I can't imagine how they feel. If you read the previous 3 posts from the journal, Amy does a great job of letting everyone know exactly what's going on and why they're needing lots of prayers.
